One of the most Intense moments of my life. E-mail

Nothing can get in the way of your success, IF... you let nothing get in the way of your success.

I just wanted to share a true story from my past with you...

About five years ago I walked out of my corporate job because it was driving me crazy.  So I teamed up with a friend of mine who was in the real estate business and we decided to buy raw land.  Well, we found a piece of land, and after working on it for about nine months we were literally down to the wire.  The closing of the deal had been consistently delayed for about three weeks.

I was down to about $97 to my name.  And that’s no joke, I’m serious, there was nothing in retirement, there wasn’t anything in the bank account, my checkbook or even in my piggy bank.  Well normally, I tend to be a pretty quiet and overly polite guy, but we needed that deal to happen and it needed to happen now.

So my automatic kick butt mechanism kicked in and I didn’t care what the circumstances were - bottom line - the deal was going to go through and it was going to go through right now!

• The first thing I did was get a hold of every single person involved and I asked them what needed to happen. I then created a map or flow chart of all those things.

• Next, I actually did every single thing that I could do myself. I made sure that I had everybody else’s work and home phone numbers, and I stayed with them until every single step was done.

During the next 48 hours, I took massive action!   I followed up and confirmed everything personally.  I drove to people’s homes and offices.  I was up all night changing contracts and rewording things and making things happen over the phone.

After two days I was down to only $5.38 to my name. We were out of food in the refrigerator and I didn’t even have enough money to put gas in my car.  Something had to happen.  But now the guy who needed to sign the contract was having cold feet again.  On top of that, my partner read the changes that I made to the contract without talking to him, and he was mad.

You don’t want to know what happened next.

Yes, I somehow pulled it off that day.  The deal got signed, and there was a check coming to me and my business partner the next day for over $366,000.  If I hadn’t taken that kind of massive action, with massive intensity and made sure that everything happened regardless of any circumstances.  It would have been delayed or more likely, it never would have happened.

So here’s what I learned…

• If you take massive action you get massive results.
• The most flexible person wins.
• If it’s really important, don’t leave it in the hands of other people.  You make sure that it gets done yourself.
• Stay focused purely on activities that will give you the results you want and get rid of anything that not essential.
•  If you decide there is no other option but success, you are more likely to get it

Remember.  Nothing can get in the way of your success IF... you let nothing get in the way of your success.

(I hope you enjoyed the story and picked up something from it that you can use in your own life.)

Life is your great opportunity.  It’s short and you don’t get your time back, so make the most of it today.

P.S.  This story is about selling land.  It was way more intense how I was able to get the land in the first place.  But that’s another story…
